The Shūseikan Lineage
島津 · Shimazu
In the 1850s, in Kagoshima at the foot of Sakurajima, the Satsuma lord Shimazu Nariakira built the Shūseikan — Japan's first modern industrial complex.
Reverberatory furnaces. An ironworks. A shipyard and a glassworks. A samurai house reverse-engineered Western metallurgy from Dutch books and built what the nation needed before the nation knew it needed it. It was tradition and the most advanced technology of the age, fused under one discipline — the conviction that capability is a duty, not a luxury.
Satsuma Cyberworks carries that posture into a new domain. We bring the same craft to cryptography and cyber: hard problems, sovereign capability, and quiet service to the mission.

Satsuma Cyberworks is founder-led. Every engagement is delivered by a principal with roughly twenty-five years in cryptographic modernization and systems security engineering for the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community.
That arc runs from design analysis on NSA's Key Management Infrastructure — work recognized with an Information Assurance Directorate award — to Type-1 key management for Air Force cryptographic systems, where operational keying time fell from eight hours to fifteen minutes. It includes COMSEC and PKI architecture, post-quantum and CNSA 2.0 transition planning, RMF and systems security engineering, and cybersecurity acquisition support across the program lifecycle.
It also includes the standards work underneath the discipline: helping drive the IETF standardization of SNMP over (D)TLS (RFC 5343, 5590, 5591, 6353) and supporting the OASIS KMIP technical committee as a subject-matter expert. In industry leadership, he built and led the cyber engineering organization for a strategic weapon system modernization program, scaling it from four engineers to fifty.
